As a painter I’m a realist—but to me that doesn’t mean just rendering a detail accurately. What a dancer’s swirling skirt feels like is so much more important than rendering a specific moment in time, with “accurate” folds and creases of cloth.
the most important thing for an artist is being aware, here, ready when you see something. Your life is unique in its own small or big way. You have to be aware so you can capture the life from your perspective.
I’ve been painting and selling my watercolors since I was 16. It is such a flexible medium with such a range of what you can make the paint do. Watercolor is my first love, at least when it comes to paint.
